when, not if

I know many of you are aware that Brad will most likely be going to Afghanistan by the end of the year. While it is difficult to think about Brad being gone for a year (or so), it was also expected. Remember, he did VOLUNTEER to enlist during a time of war. I have been preparing myself since 2001 when the military first came up as an option. Many tears have been shed between then and now and many more I am sure will be shed. But our faith is firm, our God is strong and He is always good. Neither of us doubt that last bit, He led us to this place ever so carefully, so that we don't have to deal with the nagging "did we do the wrong thing?" thoughts.

We do covet your prayers. Brad is at Fort Polk, LA this week for JRTC (joint readiness training center..or something close to that.) He should be back by Sunday am. He will be leaving again in October for some field exercises, but I am not sure on the dates for that. His plate will be full as they gear up to go. Getting ready for his job, but also trying to ready his family for his departure. Pray that we would both have clear minds so that we attend to the things that we need to and don't waste time on things that aren't so important.

The other night, Brad and I had one of "those" talks. The kind with what if's and tears. They are not fun chats, but they are crucial to being able to place this in His hands completely. After our talk, I came across this verse, which was comforting and challenging at the same time.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, the flames will not set you ablaze. Isaiah 43:2
